DirectLine offers a confidential telephone support, live online counselling, or email support for individuals or health professionals seeking information and advice about alcohol and other drug use.

DirectLine counsellors can provide generalised information, advice tailored to the individual's specific situation, or make referrals on the individual's behalf to an alcohol and drug treatment service throughout Victoria if necessary. The professionally qualified counsellors are trained to work across a wide range of alcohol and drug problems.

Counsellors can provide:

• Immediate counselling and support
• Support in dealing with the impact of drug use on families
• Assistance in developing strategies to deal with alcohol or drug problems
