Griefline - Support Groups

Griefline offers support groups for anyone experiencing grief and loss, isolation, and loneliness.

Griefline is a national grief support organisation offering a range of support services to help people understand and navigate their experience with grief and loss. Griefline provide early intervention and prevention of mental health difficulties that may compound a person’s experience of grief and loss.

Griefline offers several group support programs which are facilitated by a qualified counsellor and a social worker to provide emotional support, in conjunction with evidence-backed information to help reduce the stigma that can be associated with grief, as well as build an understanding that each person experiences grief in a different way.

The program consists of 3 sessions, delivered over 3 weeks. Each session runs for around 90 minutes, with a new theme introduced each week including:

  1. What grief is and the different ways we grieve
  2. How grief affects our body and nervous system
  3. Ways to support health and wellbeing while living with loss
  4. The importance of sleep and techniques to explore a better night’s sleep
  5. Grounding techniques to support those moments of feeling overwhelmed
  6. Integrating grief into daily life

To register a patient/client or to self-nominate, an online form can be completed here.

The support groups are available for anyone living in the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network in Australia.

This is a free service.
