Pets and People
Pets and People is a support network and counselling service for grieving pet owners.
Pets and People is an organisation that was founded to provide support to help people through the grief experienced with the loss of a companion animal.
While death is probably the most commonly experienced loss of a pet, other ways of losing a beloved pet, like their disappearance, or having to part with a pet through family circumstances or relocation can also be very distressing.
Counselling Service:
Pets and People connects bereaved pet owners with qualified and experienced pet loss counsellors who are ready and willing to support people in this difficult time. An important aspect of grieving is to share the loss of a pet with people who will understand and support those who are grieving.
- Call the 24-hour Pet Support Line on 1300 431 450 for immediate support (please note: this is a toll free number, but once connected with a professional, the counselling rates will vary according to the service provider)
- Access Pet Loss Counsellors Directory for a more personalised counselling service to support one's grief and bereavement
Support Network:
Pets and People have compiled a list of resources, both paid and complimentary, to help people work through their grief.
