Wellington House - Box Hill
The Turning Point Addiction Medicine Unit (TPAMU) provides medically managed inpatient withdrawal and stabilisation services at the Wellington House site. All services are by appointment only.
Patients of Wellington House can expect 24/7 care supported by a multidisciplinary medical, nursing and allied health team, overseen by senior addiction medical specialists.
Wellington House is a 12-bed community residential unit that provides extended withdrawal support for patients requiring additional time to stabilise their physical and mental health.
The program for clients at Wellington House includes:
- group psychotherapy
- in house mutual aid sessions
- life skills including financial advice, and
- physical activities
Eligibility Criteria
Admissions to the house include patients with:
- comorbid medical conditions
- comorbid psychiatric conditions
- other complexities such as withdrawal seizures
- dependence on high doses of opioids necessitating stabilisation with methadone or buprenorphine
- dependence on novel psychoactive and synthetic drugs including cannabis-like substances, methamphetamine and GHB
- transfer from high dose methadone (or other opioids) to buprenorphine, and
- high dose and unstable illicit benzodiazepine use
Completion of either a face-to-face or telephone intake assessment plus GP referral. GP referral required.
