BreakThrough Program

BreakThrough Program offers face-to-face and online support to families impacted by a loved one’s use of the drug crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’) and other forms of addiction.

The BreakThrough program was developed to provide counselling for families, friends and carers of people affected by the drug crystal methamphetamine ('ice'). The program has been very successful in addressing the stigma associated with ice use and linking families into ongoing support options. Since 2019, BreakThrough has expanded its scope and focuses on addiction more broadly.

BreakThrough online educational sessions are run every Wednesday night from 7pm-8pm. The BreakThrough program provides information about addiction, about why people use drugs and why it causes problems for the individual, families and the broader community.

It also provides practical strategies about how to talk to loved ones about their drug use and how families can manage challenging behaviours and look after themselves.

Information on telephone and face-to-face support services and where to access additional help and ongoing support are also provided on the website.

This service is available for anyone living in Australia.

This is a free service.
