SANDS Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Newborn Death Support - Online Support

SANDS is a volunteer-based organisation providing individualised care from one bereaved parent to another, giving them support and hope for the future, following the death of a baby or child. All volunteers have themselves experienced the death of a baby or child.

SANDS offers three kinds of online support, a live chat, email service or facebook groups for bereaved parents and families:

Live Chat

The live chat gives bereaved parents and families the option to connect directly with SANDS volunteers in real-time. Individuals can ask questions and seek support from the volunteers, and if needed further support options can be provided based on the persons needs. The Live Chat is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10am-3pm.

Email Support

Sometimes it is easier to find the time and privacy to send an email than it is to have a conversation out loud. Whatever someone's reason for seeking online support, SANDS offers an email support service which is run by a team of volunteers that will respond with a message that conveys the understanding and compassion that only another bereaved parent can provide.

Facebook Groups

SANDS host and moderate a number of ‘closed’ bereavement support Facebook groups where someone can seek support and understanding from other bereaved parents across Australia.

Anyone can see and request to be accepted into these groups, however anything people post in the group can only be seen by other members of the group.

• Bereaved fathers
• Bereaved grandparents
• Termination for medical reasons
• Pregnancy after loss and trying to conceive
  

This service is for any parents, grandparents, friends or family bereaved by the loss of a baby or child in Australia.
