Spectrum Personality Disorder Service
Spectrum is a specialist service within the public mental health system for people with a personality disorder. Spectrum is also available to provide telephone-based secondary consultation services to clinicians working for Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) in Victoria.
Spectrum Personality Disorder Service for Victoria is the
Statewide Centre of Clinical Excellence for Personality Disorders. It
was established by the Victorian Health Department in 1999 and is
managed by Eastern Health.
Spectrum is staffed by a dedicated
team of mental health professionals from a range of disciplines
including psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, social
workers, occupational therapists, and peer workers.
Spectrum is only available for a very small number of people who require an intensive and specialist service (for example, because their needs are particularly complex). Not all people with a personality disorder in Victoria will be able to access Spectrum’s treatment services.
Spectrum is also available to provide telephone-based secondary consultation services to clinicians working for Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) in Victoria. This secondary consultation service is designed to help doctors with general assessment, clinical formulation, risk assessment, and treatment planning.
