Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) - Home-Based Withdrawal
Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) Home-Based Withdrawal (HBW) program and primary health support provides outreach community services for young people withdrawing from alcohol or other drugs.
The Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) is one of Australia’s largest, youth-specific community service organisation. While the prime focus of YSAS remains on effective Youth Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment and sector leadership, the organisation also has extensive experience in providing young people and families with services that support improved mental health and improve meaningful community participation.
YSAS Home-Based Withdrawal (HBW) program is for young people to safely withdraw from drug use in the community.
The HBW nurses can also help with other physical and mental health and wellbeing needs, not only withdrawal. They can provide referrals and link individuals to other health, wellbeing, educational, employment and recreational services.
This program is a suitable for individuals who:
- Have ongoing illnesses
- Have complicated medication regimes
- Are on pharmacotherapy (Methadone, Buprenorphine)
- Have dental problems
- Are pregnant and using substances
- Have a safe home environment for withdrawal
YSAS also has other AOD outreach and day programs and specialised mental health programs for young people aged 12-25 years old.
Eligibility Criteria
This service is for young people aged 12-21 years old who are living in safe and stable accommodation, with family and/or friends and wish to withdraw from drug use in the community.

This is a free service.
